Report on the Observance of Gandhi Jayanti under Seva Parv at GDC Women Anantnag. Date of Event: October 2, 2025 Venue: College Auditorium, GDC Women Anantnag Organized by: Cultural Committee, Debates and Seminars Committee GDC Women Anantnag, in alignment with the Seva Parv initiative In the spirit of selfless service and national reverence, GDC Women Anantnag under the patronage of Principal GDCW Anantnag Prof. Dr Masood Ahmad Malik, marked the 156th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, with a solemn and inspiring observance of Gandhi Jayanti. This poignant event, seamlessly integrated into the broader canvas of Seva Parv—the Festival of Service—served as a beacon of Gandhian ideals: truth, non violence, and unwavering commitment to societal upliftment. The gathering, graced by over 220 participants, unfolded with grace and profundity, fostering an atmosphere of reflection and renewal. The event reached its emotional zenith with the gracious presence of Shri Syed Fakhrudin Hamid, the esteemed District Collector (DC) of Anantnag, as the chief guest. Accompanied by a dignified escort of college dignitaries including senior faculty member, Prof Iqbal Qadri. Shri Syed Fakhrudin Hamid, approached the resplendent portrait of Bapu, adorned with garlands. In a gesture of profound respect and devotion, he showered a cascade of fresh rose petals upon the image—a symbolic act that evoked the fragrance of Gandhiji's enduring principles of peace and perseverance. Following the homage, Shri Syed Fakhrudin Hamid, captivated the assembly with an eloquent oration on the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi. Drawing from the Mahatma's transformative journey—from the satyagraha in South Africa to the epochal Dandi March and the Quit India Movement—his discourse wove a tapestry of resilience, ethical fortitude, and compassionate leadership. He eloquently articulated how Gandhiji's vision of Sarvodaya (universal upliftment) remains a clarion call for today's youth to champion causes like gender equality, rural empowerment, and ecological stewardship. His words, delivered with the poise of a seasoned administrator and the passion of a patriot, resonated deeply, eliciting nods of affirmation and applause that echoed the hall's vaulted ceilings. A pledge was taken by the chief Guest along with the audiences on SEVA PARV. Screening of the Documentary To further illuminate the facets of Gandhiji's extraordinary life, the program featured a meticulously curated documentary titled "The Eternal Gandhi: A Journey of Light". Projected on a grand screen amid a backdrop of serene visuals—spinning charkhas, throngs of peaceful marchers. We extend our deepest gratitude to Shri Syed Fakhrudin Hamid, for his illuminating presence, to the organizing committees for their meticulous orchestration, and to every participant whose enthusiasm breathed life into this noble endeavour. Let us carry forward Bapu's flame, illuminating paths of justice and compassion for generations to come. The event was coordinated by Prof. Bilal Ahmad Shah AP Education
