A hands-on training programme on Textura Art, followed by a formal exhibition of student’s works was organised by The Department of Home Science on 27 November 2025 in the Exhibition Hall of Govt Degree College Women Anantnag. The initiative aimed to enhance student’s practical skills in textured design techniques while showcasing their creative and technical skills. The programme was inaugurated by Vice Principal, Prof (Dr.) Sabzar Ahmad on behalf of the Principal, who appreciated the department’s efforts in promoting skill-based learning. HOD, Dept of Home Science, Prof. Ryhana Abdullah gave a brief description of Textura art and demonstrated other skills artworks showcased during the event. She emphasised participants to actively participate and learn from such skills based workshops for better future opportunities. During the training, participants received systematic instruction in various Textura Art methods, including Tie and die, crochet, macrame, embroidery stitches and fabric painting. Participants showed exemplary dedication, discipline, and enthusiasm throughout the session. The exhibition featured not only the outcomes of the Textura Art training but also showcased the student’s learned skills, demonstrating their ongoing growth in creativity and craftsmanship. Faculty members and participants praised the quality, originality, and presentation of the displayed artworks. The skills acquired through this programme contribute significantly to student’s broader development, enabling them to become more self-dependent, self-reliant, and economically capable. Such skill-based training creates pathways for entrepreneurship, small-scale production, and income-generating opportunities. The programme provided valuable hands-on experience, strengthened artistic and practical competencies, and promoted self-sufficiency among students. The event stands as an important addition to the academic and skill-development initiatives of the Department of Home Science.
