Event Details

As part of the national pride celebrations and to commemorate the 150 years of Vande Mataram Phase II, Debates and seminars committee in collaboration with NSS and NCC of GDC Womens Anantnag organised a Quiz Competition on 21/01/2026. The event aimed to enhance students’ knowledge about India’s freedom struggle, national symbols, cultural heritage, and the historical significance of Vande Mataram. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various classes. Participants were divided into five teams namely Desh Ki Shaan, Dharti Kay Laal, Matribhumi Minds, Tricolour Titans and Amar Jyoti competed in multiple rounds, including General Knowledge, Freedom Movement, National Songs & Symbols and Rapid Fire Round. The quiz tested not only factual knowledge but also presence of mind and teamwork. The event began with a brief introduction by Prof Javaid Ahmad Kumar who highlighted the importance of Vande Mataram, composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, and its role in inspiring generations during India’s freedom struggle. The quiz was conducted in an engaging and lively manner, keeping the audience actively involved. The judges comprising of Prof Masroofa Qadir and Dr. Musavir Hassan appreciated the participants for their confidence and awareness of national history. The audience also actively participated during the audience round, making the event interactive and educational. The responsibility to ask questions to students was borne by Prof Zahid Ahmad Wani. The event proved to be a meaningful and inspiring event, reinforcing the values of national unity, heritage, and pride among students. The event concluded with formal vote of thanks by Prof Zahid Ahmad Wani. The event was conducted under the overall supervision of Principal Prof Dr Khalida Hassan.
