Report on Documentary on Vande-Mataram- The National Song Debates and Seminar committee in collaboration with NSS & NCC of Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag organized a documentary screening titled “Vande Mataram — Our National Pride: The National Song” on 23/01/2026 in a virtual mode. The event was held under the broader Phase-II celebrations marking 150 years of the National Song Vande Mataram, which is deeply rooted in India’s freedom struggle and continues to embody national pride and unity. The event aimed at deepening students’ understanding of the historical and cultural roots of Vande Mataram. Reinforce the patriotic spirit associated with the national song as a timeless symbol of national identity, besides Inspire students to appreciate the sacrifices of freedom fighters who used the song as a rallying cry during India’s struggle for independence. The program began with an introduction to the documentary by Prof Farooq Ahmad Malik, Convener Debates and Seminar committee. He explained its theme and also deliberated upon how Vande Mataram emerged as a national song and its significance over 150 years. Staff and students attentively watched the documentary. Faculty members and student volunteers spoke during the event to underscore the values of patriotism and cultural heritage inherent in the song. The screening event was attended by students and faculty members. The event concluded with formal vote of thanks by Fatima Jeelani President of the student council. The whole event was moderated by Prof. Masroofa Qadir, PO NSS. The whole event was conducted under the supervision of worthy chair, Prof Dr Khalida Hassan.
