The Drug De-Addiction Cell of the college organized a sensitization program on 24th July 2025 on the theme, "Break the Chain: Say No to Drugs," as part of its ongoing campaign against substance abuse and narcotics use among youth. The program commenced with opening remarks by the worthy Principal, Prof. (Dr.) MasoodAhmad Malik, who highlighted the growing menace of drug addiction in society and emphasized the role of educational institutions in spreading awareness and promoting healthy lifestyles among students. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Rouf Hassan Rather, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College, Anantnag. Dr. Rather spoke extensively on the issue of drug abuse—its causes, consequences, and impact on individuals and communities. He also elaborated on preventive strategies, early identification of addiction, and the importance of rehabilitation. Furthermore, he emphasized the close link between substance abuse and mental health issues, stressing the need for timely intervention, support systems, and destigmatization of mental illness. The event witnessed overwhelming participation from students, faculty, and staff. The session was ably moderated by Prof. Shamsul Din, Convener, Drug De-Addiction Cell. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Arif Hussain, who expressed gratitude to the guest speaker, the college administration, faculty members, and all the students for their enthusiastic participation and commitment to the cause. The program concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which students engaged with the speaker and sought clarification on various aspects of drug prevention and mental health.
