To honor and pay tribute to the bravery, valor, and supreme sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces during the Kargil War, the NCC cadets of GD C Women, Anantnag, actively participated in various events organized on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The celebration served as a reminder of the heroic deeds of our soldiers and reinforced values of patriotism, courage, and responsibility among the cadets. Activities conducted during the day: 1. Painting Competition was held on the theme "Tribute to Kargil Heroes. Over 31 cadets participated, expressing their creativity through depictions of patriotism, war memorials, battle scenes, and national pride. The artworks were displayed across the campus for public viewing, receiving widespread appreciation. 2. Speech Presentations: Selected cadets delivered thought-provoking and emotionally resonant speeches on themes such as ‘The Significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas’, ‘The Life and Sacrifices of Indian Soldiers’, 'Why We Remember Kargil Vijay Diwas’. The speeches reflected deep respect for the armed forces and emphasized the spirit of nationalism and civic responsibility. 3. Documentary Screening: A short documentary titled “Kargil: The Untold Story” was screened for the cadets which provided historical context and personal accounts from the Kargil War. This was followed by an open discussion session, where cadets shared their reflections, insights, and emotional responses. The Principal, Prof. (Dr) Masood Ahmad Malik addressed the cadets and faculty during the event. In his inspiring speech, he emphasised, “Kargil Vijay Diwas is not merely a date in the calendar; it is a symbol of India’s resilience, unity, and the unbreakable spirit of our soldiers. As NCC cadets, you carry the responsibility of becoming disciplined, responsible, and patriotic citizens. Let this day inspire you to serve the nation in whatever capacity you choose.” He also appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the cadets and acknowledged the important role of the National Cadet Corps in shaping future leaders and responsible citizens. Conclusion: The observation of Kargil Vijay Diwas at GDC Women, Anantnag, was a solemn and meaningful tribute to the nation's bravehearts. The cadets of the NCC unit demonstrated exemplary discipline, talent, and a strong sense of patriotism throughout the day’s activities. The event concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem and a silent tribute to the martyrs of the Kargil War.
