The Debates and Seminars Committee, in collaboration with the Talent Search Committee of the college, organised a one-day Seminar on "Understanding Plural Culture in Kashmir and Dynamics of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra" on 10 July 2025 in the conference hall. The programme began with the Introductory remarks of Prof Farooq Ahmad Malik (HOD Political Science), who highlighted the importance of the syncretic culture prevalent in Kashmir since times immemorial. Kashmir’s familiarity in the world owes its importance to its sui-generis plural culture, he stated. The chief speaker on the occasion was Prof. (Dr) Masood Ahmad Malik, principal of the college, who offered deep insights into the historical, spiritual, and economic dimensions of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. Invoking the 14th-century Kashmiri mystic poet Lalla Ded, he described pilgrimage as more than a physical journey, calling it a transformative path towards inner purification and spiritual growth. He also highlighted the Yatra’s role as a vehicle for cultural exchange and local economic development. The programme ended with a summary of the discussion and a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Arshid Iqbal Dar, faculty, Department of Political Science.
