Department of Psychology in collaboration with the Drug De-addiction Cell of the college organized an awareness program on ‘Drug De-addiction and the NDPS Act’ under the patronage of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Masood Ahmad Malik. The program commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Shamsul Din, Head, Department of Psychology who spoke in detail about the signs and symptoms of drug addiction, emphasizing the importance of early intervention and preventive strategies to tackle the issue at its roots. This was followed by student presentations covering a range of vital topics such as types of drugs, causes of addiction, preventive measures, rehabilitation strategies, and an overview of punishments and penalties under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The students actively participated, making the session highly interactive and informative. Numerous issues related to drug abuse and its impact on individuals and society were discussed thoroughly. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Arif Ahmad Wani, acknowledging the contributions of all participants and organizers. The program proved to be insightful and impactful, raising awareness and encouraging meaningful dialogue on the pressing issue of substance abuse.
