UGC-MMTTC University of Delhi, GDC Women Anantnag Jointly Commence Online FDP on NEP Orientation and Sensitization Anantnag 18th Aug 2026 : The UGC–Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), University of Delhi, in collaboration with Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag, commenced an Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “NEP Orientation and Sensitization”, bringing together academicians and faculty members for substantive engagement with the vision and objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The inaugural session began with opening remarks by Prof. Zahid Ahmad Wani, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag, who set the academic context for the programme and highlighted the significance of engaging critically with the transformative vision of NEP 2020. Prof. Wani also moderated the inaugural session, ensuring the smooth and structured conduct of the proceedings. The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Geeta Singh, Director, Centre for Professional Development in Higher Education (CPDHE), UGC–MMTTC, University of Delhi, who provided valuable academic perspectives on the broader vision of NEP 2020 and emphasized the importance of continuous faculty development in responding to the evolving needs of higher education. Prof. Khalida Hassan, Principal, Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag, highlighted the significance of such academic collaborations in strengthening institutional capacity, promoting professional development and fostering a culture of continuous learning among faculty members. The FDP is being coordinated by Prof. Farooq Ahmad Malik, whose initiative and sustained efforts have been instrumental in facilitating the collaboration between the two institutions, including efforts towards establishing an institutional Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The inaugural session also featured an address by Dr. Satish Vimal, Distinguished Broadcaster, Poet and Writer, whose reflections added an intellectual and humanistic dimension to the proceedings. Prof. Javid Ahmad Kumar formally introduced the distinguished speaker and provided the academic context for his address. The session concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmad Tali, who expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests, speakers, institutional leadership, programme coordinator, organising team and participating faculty members for their valuable contributions to the successful commencement of the FDP. The academic engagement continued with the second session, featuring Prof. Himanshu Prasad Roy, Chairperson, Centre for Political Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), who delivered a thought-provoking lecture on “Holistic and Multidisciplinary Education: Education in Pre-Colonial India.” Prof. Roy examined India's pre-colonial educational and intellectual traditions and explored their relevance to contemporary discussions on holistic and multidisciplinary education. His lecture encouraged participants to critically reflect upon India's knowledge traditions and their relationship with the broader educational transformation envisaged under NEP 2020. The session generated meaningful academic engagement around interdisciplinarity, critical inquiry, knowledge traditions and the wider purposes of education. Prof. Khurshid Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Amar Singh College, Srinagar, formally introduced Prof. Roy and provided the academic context for the lecture, while Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Department of Kashmiri, Government Degree College, Bijbehara, moderated the second session.
