Women College Anantnag in collaboration with MY Bharat Anantnag, organised a series of inter-college events under the theme “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” with the objective of sensitising the youth about the serious consequences of drug menace. The initiative provided a meaningful platform for students from different colleges to express their views through a different plethora of activities Poetry, Painting, Folk Song, Speech and Nukkad Natak. The programme commenced with the inaugural address delivered by Prof Dr Khalida Hassan, worthy Principal of the college. In her inaugural address he stressed upon the need to address the drug menace form its roots and insisted students that since loneliness happens to be the main cause for student to fall prey to drugs. they must spare their precious times with the family members. Following her inaugural address, the formal beginning of a series of different events was held in different venues like Auditorium, NSS room and conference room respectively. Poetry Competition The participants composed and presented poems highlighting the destructive consequences of drug addiction and the importance of making responsible choices. Several presentations emphasised themes of hope, self-respect, family values, resilience and the importance of pursuing constructive goals. The three jury members to evaluate the performance of the participant students happen to be Dr Javaid Ahmad Dar Urdu, Dr Arif Qadir Kashmiri and Mr. Nasir Shabir Sr. lecturer. Painting Competition The Painting Competition enabled students to communicate the theme “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” through visual art. The participating students presented creative representations of the consequences of drug addiction, including its impact on individuals, families and society. At the same time, many paintings portrayed positive alternatives such as education, sports, healthy living, social responsibility and national development. The three jury members to evaluate the performance of the participant students happen to be Dr Touseef Ahmad Sheikh GCW Anantnag, Urdu, Dr Rafiya Nisar GDC boys Anantnag and Mr. Shahid Shafi Itoo Sr. lecturer. Ranibagh. Dr Bilal Ahmad Wani AP GDC Boys Anantnag and Mr. Musavir Salim Teacher were given the opportunity to evaluate the performance of students and declared Sehrish Mushtaq and her team form Bijbehera college as the winners. A key message of the programme was that a developed India requires a healthy, educated, skilled and responsible youth population. The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to students, recognising their contribution and involvement in the college activities. Mr Vikas Kuashal Deputy Director from My Bharat Platform Anantnag too delivered a brief speech to encourage student community to remain away from drugs which are detrimental not only physically, emotionally but also psychologically.
