Report on Awareness-cum-Screening Programme on Breast Cancer Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag Today, an Awareness-cum-Screening Programme on Breast Cancer was organized in the college auditorium of Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag. The event was held under the patronage of the worthy Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Masood Ahmad Malik, who has always been at the forefront of promoting health awareness and welfare initiatives among students. The programme was organized by the Health Care Centre of the College in collaboration with Paras Hospital, Srinagar. The chief resource person and speaker for the event was Dr. Saqib Ahmad Shah, an eminent oncologist, who delivered an informative and engaging talk on breast cancer awareness, prevention, and early detection. In his address, Dr. Saqib Ahmad Shah enlightened the audience about the rising incidence of breast cancer among women and emphasized the importance of regular self-examination, timely screening, and adopting a healthy lifestyle. He also dispelled common myths associated with the disease and encouraged women to seek medical advice without hesitation. His presentation was followed by an interactive session, during which students and faculty members raised queries that were answered comprehensively by the expert. The event also featured a screening session, where interested participants were offered preliminary health check-ups and guidance. The session aimed to spread the message that “early detection saves lives” and to motivate young women to become health-conscious and proactive about their well-being. Prof. (Dr.) Masood Ahmad Malik, Principal of the college, appreciated the efforts of the Health Care Centre and Paras Hospital for organizing such a meaningful and socially relevant event. He stressed the need for awareness and education on women’s health issues, which are often neglected due to social stigma or lack of information. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teaching, and non-teaching staff members, making it a great success. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks, extending gratitude to the guest speaker, collaborating hospital, and the organizing committee for their commendable contribution to this noble cause.
