Celebration of 11th International Yoga Day at GDC Women's Anantnag: Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag marked the 11th International Yoga Day with a grand and historic celebration today on 21st June, 2025. This event witnessed enthusiastic participation from hundreds of individuals, including gazetted and non-gazetted staff, teaching and non-teaching faculty, and students. The session commenced with Dr. Masood Ahmad Malik, principal of the college, who delivered the opening remarks wherein he delineated the importance of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being, highlighting its relevance in today's fast-paced world. Following the insightful address, Mr. Manzoor Ahmad, a yoga instructor deputed by the District Youth Services and Sports, guided the participants through various asanas. His expert instruction ensured that all attendees, regardless of their prior experience, could comfortably engage in the yoga practices. The sight of hundreds performing different postures in unison created a truly inspiring atmosphere. The successful organization of such a large-scale event underscored the college's commitment to holistic development and well-being. The active involvement of the NSS Wing of the college and Physical Education Department was instrumental in ensuring the smooth execution of the day's activities. The session concluded with Mr. Umar Bashir Dar, PTI, proposing the vote of thanks who expressed sincere gratitude to Dr. Masood Ahmad Malik for his unwavering support and leadership, the NSS Wing for their dedicated efforts, and all the participants who made the celebrations a resounding success. The whole session was moderated by Afshana Sofi, a 2nd Semester student with Urdu Major. This landmark event not only celebrated the spirit of yoga but also emphasized its growing significance in fostering a healthier and more balanced lifestyle within the community.
