The Department of Food Science and Technology was established in 2021. Food Science and Technology deals with the understanding and application of basic sciences to fulfill the needs of society for sustainable food quality, food safety and food security. The aim of the Food Science and Technology is to provide the students with the ability to understand and integrate the food related scientific disciplines. After completing the degree in Food Science and Technology, the students will be able to use their acquired knowledge and understanding to meet the needs of society, industry and consumers. The students will take different courses such as Food Chemistry and Nutrition, Food Microbiology, Food Processing, Food Quality Assurance and Packaging and Food Analysis. Students will be provided practical training in the departmental laboratory and through food plant visits to strengthen the theoretical knowledge acquired.
