REPORT ON STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS Dated: September 29, 2025 The Student Council Elections for the academic session 2025–2026 were successfully conducted at the Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag, on 29th September 2025.The entire process was held under the leadership of the worthy Principal, Dr. Masood Ahmad Malik, and was meticulously supervised by the Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmad Teli, with Prof. Farooq Ahmad Malik (Head, Department of Political Science) serving as the Election Observer. The election proceedings were further facilitated by Prof. Zahid Ahmad Wani (Assistant Professor, Zoology and Member, Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Muhammad Nayeem Ur Rehman (Assistant Professor, Arabic and Member, Dean Students Welfare) and Prof. Aarif Hussain Wani (Assistant Professor, Education and Member, Dean Students Welfare) who ensured the smooth and efficient execution of the event. Voting was carried out through a paper ballot system in the Department of Zoology between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, where elected Class Representatives (CRs) from various disciplines of the college cast their votes to elect the office bearers of the Student Council, namely the President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The results were formally declared at 3:30 PM on the same day, marking the culmination of a fair, transparent, and democratic process. The formation of the Student Council represents a significant step toward promoting participatory democracy, leadership, and responsibility among students, while also strengthening the channel of communication between the administration and the student body. The council is expected to play a vital role in safeguarding student welfare, fostering holistic growth, and enhancing the academic and extracurricular environment of the institution. On this occasion, Worthy Principal Dr. Masood Ahmad Malik remarked that the successful conduct of the elections reflects the institution’s commitment to democratic values and student empowerment, and he emphasized that the newly elected council must work with dedication, integrity, and vision to uphold the welfare of students and contribute meaningfully to the progress of the college.
