Government Degree College (GDC) for Women, Anantnag, actively participated in the Chinar Book Festival at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Srinagar on 25th of July, 2026. The educational tour was executed under the directive of the lead college of District Anantnag to provide students with rich literary and intellectual exposure. A joint contingent consisting of 17 students from GDCW, Anantnag and 17 students from Government Degree College, Anantnag departed early in the morning at 8:35 AM. Accompanied by a dedicated faculty member, the College Nodal Officer, and escorting staff, the 34-member student delegation reached the scenic SKICC venue at 11:00 AM. During the festival, the students enthusiastically explored diverse literary stalls, immersed themselves in current publications, and directly interacted with esteemed authors and publishers. The joint team participated in the quiz competition organized by one of the publisher and claimed the trophy. The delegation departed from Srinagar at 3:00 PM and arrived safely back at their respective campus bases by 5:00 PM. Describing the outing, accompanying officials noted that the festival offered an invaluable, holistic learning experience that extended well beyond standard classroom walls.
