Department of Economics

Established in 1979, the Department of Economics at government Degree College for Women, Anantnag, has been an integral part of academic excellence and empowerment for female students in the region. Currently, the department offers Honours Degree programs in Economics, providing students with a strong foundation in economic theory, policy and applied Economics. With one permanent faculty member, the department remains committed to delivering quality education through dedicated teaching, personalized attention, and a student-centric approach. Apart from discipline specific cores and electives for its own students, the department offers Skill Enhancement Courses and Multidisciplinary Course to the Non-Economics students of the college. The college library supports the department with a robust collection of over 500 books in Economics. Through its rigorous academic programs and focus on holistic development, the department of Economics continues to be a vital part of the college’s mission to educate and empower women in South Kashmir.
