Department of Philosophy
The Department of Philosophy was established in recent-past in the year 2015 with one sanctioned post, and since then it started attracting students. As a social science discipline, philosophy employs critical reasoning and conceptual analysis to explore fundamental questions about human existence, society, knowledge, and values, intersecting with fields like sociology, psychology, and political science. Its diverse subfields—ethics, political philosophy, epistemology, and more—draw from global traditions, including Western, Eastern, and indigenous perspectives, fostering rich cross-cultural dialogue. In today’s world, philosophy’s relevance shines through its engagement with urgent issues like AI ethics, climate justice, and digital surveillance, equipping individuals to navigate complex social realities with clarity and ethical insight. Students should pursue philosophy for its unparalleled ability to cultivate critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and nuanced reasoning, preparing them for impactful careers in law, policy, technology, and beyond, where they can address societal challenges with depth and rigor. 1.
