Department of Sericulture
The Department of Sericulture has pioneered hands-on education and innovation in the field since 1996. We are dedicated to providing a comprehensive education in sericulture, equipping students with the scientific knowledge and hands-on skills necessary for successful careers and entrepreneurial ventures in this dynamic field. The department boasts a prime location adjacent to student hostels and the playground, fostering a vibrant and convenient campus life. Our infrastructure supports a holistic learning environment, featuring modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, and direct access to our on-site mulberry garden. The department is guided by a team of 02 dedicated faculty members, supported by 02 trained technical staff and 01 non-teaching personnel, all committed to student success. Academic Programs The department offers a four-year B.Sc. in Sericulture as Minor Course, structured according to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework across eight semesters. In addition to our core degree, we offer three skill-based courses for students from other disciplines, promoting interdisciplinary learning. The department believes in pedagogical approach emphasizes practical, hands-on experience to complement theoretical knowledge. Key components include: On-Site Mulberry Garden: A dedicated garden for students practical and research. Large-Scale Silkworm Rearing: Students gain direct experience in silkworm rearing and hybrid cocoon production. Field Visits & Extension Work: Regular excursions to connect classroom learning with industry practices. Continuous Assessment: Through seminars, assignments, tutorials, and insect collection projects.
