Report Participation in One Day Capacity Building Programme on Disaster Management on 23rd of October 2025 A group of five students from Govt. Degree College for Women, Anantnag accompanied by Mr. Firdose Ahmad Mir, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Science, participated in a One-Day Capacity Building Training Programme on Disaster Management held at Sri Pratap College, Srinagar, on 23rd October 2025. The student participants include; 1. Aarizoo Jan (3rd Semester) 2. Iqra Amin (3rd Semester) 3. Suhana Ayoub (3rd Semester) 4. Sabha Jan (3rd Semester) 5. Shazia Akram (3rd Semester) The programme was organized by Department of Geology, Sri Pratap College Srinagar in collaboration with Department of Disaster Managemnt, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR) UT of Jammu & Kashmir. The programme focused on enhancing disaster preparedness, response mechanisms, and community resilience in case of natural and man-made disasters. Experts and trainers from different Departments viz; Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR) UT of Jammu & Kashmir, Higher Education Department J&K Govt., Fire and Emergency Services Department J&K Govt., State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster response Force (NDRF) delivered lectures, conducted interactive sessions and carried out practical demonstrations covering key areas such as disaster risk reduction, first aid and rescue operations, emergency planning, and the role of youth in disaster management. The participants from degree colleges of Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal and Anantnag districts actively engaged in discussions and practical demonstrations, gaining valuable insights into the strategies and skills required for effective disaster response and management. The training proved highly beneficial in strengthening awareness among students about disaster risk mitigation and fostering a culture of preparedness at individual and institutional levels to make UT of J&K, Disaster Resilient. All the participants were felicitated with the participation certificates. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks to all stakeholders of the programme.
